CAD CAM has been used in general practice since the first systems were sold in 1986. In some areas such as lower limb prosthetics its become widely used whilst in other areas such as Orthotics it has been slow to make an impact on everyday clinical life. This is however changing slowly and it is likely that we will all be exposed to CAD CAM in the future.

To better understand the capabilities of CAD CAM an appreciation of workings, the strengths and weakness of the individual systems is important This will give the Practitioner a better insight in how to apply the technology to the benefit of their patients.

These systems are changing the face of how we practice. This brings many questions which merit further debate. The workshop will provide the attendee with an understanding of the basic principles of the current systems and time will be available to debate the issues that CAD CAM brings to Prosthetics and Orthotics
